The Mail and Guardian’s 200 Young South Africans for 2013 were finally announced on Friday just in time for Youth Day. At the same time the 200YSA website, designed by DEEP, went live, featuring the stories of these dynamic and innovative individuals.
The seven year old initiative celebrates the achievements of young South Africans between the ages of 18 and 35, in all fields of endeavour. The Mail and Guardian team scour the country for individuals who are really making a difference in their fields. Whether it’s Regina Kgatle’s Educational Arcade machine, made from e-waste and recycled materials to present the school curriculum in a way that makes learning fun; Dalene con Delft’s awareness campaign on behalf of MDR-TB sufferers ; or Nick Kaoma’s business acumen putting hip South African clothing line Head Honcho on the international stage, these are all high achievers, who have followed their dreams and made things happen for themselves and others.
Check out the Young South Africans website and browse through some of the stories for a bit of inspiration and plenty of hope for the future, with these dynamic individuals doing South Africa proud.
